Simple Summer Skin Care Tips
Depending on where you live, the summer months are just around the corner. And whether you spend your days at the beach, in the garden, or working in your yard, summertime brings with it the opportunity to spend long periods in the sun. For many people, this means being outside for large portions of the day, which means that their skin is subject to the elements for a large portion of the day as well. The sun, sweat, heat and humidity put a lot of stress on your skin. However, there are things that you can do to help keep your skin looking fresh and young, even during the warm months. Following these simple summer skin care tips will keep your skin looking and feeling its best this summer.
Sunshine is good, but in small doses
The sun is the main culprit behind skin damage, so keeping sun exposure to a minimum is your number one priority. When you do decide to brave the sun, make sure to wear a sunscreen, preferably one that is natural and free of chemicals. Also seek shade whenever possible.
Water does a body good
When the weather is hot, there’s the potential to become dehydrated, especially if you sweat. The irony of sweating is it can cause skin to look greasy, but as you lose water from your body, it will also dry out your skin making it look thinner and enhancing fine lines. Stay hydrated for your body, as well as your skin. But stay away from sugary drinks or ones made with artificial sweeteners and stick with good ole water.
Coffee Filters? Huh?
Another simple way to keep your skin looking young and healthy this summer is to blot greasy skin. Blotting helps to remove excess oils from the surface of the skin, which can make your complexion look and feel smoother.
To blot your skin, simply apply a coffee filter to your face as you normally would and then pat it gently until the excess oil is removed.
Go au naturale
For women, keeping your makeup to a minimum in the hot summer months will keep your skin from looking tired and dull. A light application of makeup, or none at all, will ensure your skin looks brighter and healthier. And even better, it will save you some time.
Hold on, fellas
Skin care is typically thought to be for women, but men need it just as much. When the temperature rises and the sun comes out, many men tend to neglect their skin care. Don’t be that guy. Make sure you’re limiting sun exposure, wearing a natural sunscreen, and staying hydrated.
So, as you can see, all it takes is some simple planning to ensure you have great looking skin during what I hope is a great summer for you!
