I like rice because it's a side dish that can go with just about anything and I am going to share with you the secret to making perfect rice. Once while shopping in an Indian grocery the lovely woman who runs the shop explained to me the best way to make it, and my rice has been perfect ever since.
Perfect Rice
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup uncooked white rice
Instructions
Bring water, butter, and salt to a rolling boil in medium-sized pot. Stir in rice, cover with lid, and reduce heat so that it will cook at a low boil (I turn my electric burner down to 3). Set timer for 15 minutes and DO NOT remove lid while the rice is cooking.
After the timer goes off, turn off burner but leave pot on burner, and reset timer for 5 more minutes. Again, DO NOT remove lid. After timer goes off you can then remove the lid and fluff the rice.
Serve and enjoy!
